Consultation

Laser gum contouring is a relatively quick, painless cosmetic procedure. The dentist will first meet with you for a consultation and dental examination to evaluate your gums and oral health. We will discuss treatment options and your aesthetic goals.

Anesthesia

To begin the dental procedure, Dr. Casey will numb your gums and the surrounding tissues with local anesthesia. While this is usually enough to ensure comfort, some patients may still be worried about pain. We can provide different levels of sedation dentistry to induce a maximum state of relaxation.

Resculpting

The dentist will then reshape the soft tissues with an advanced diode laser. The high heat from the laser will instantly eradicate unwanted tissue and seal your blood vessels simultaneously.

Recovery and Maintenance

The length of the procedure will vary but generally lasts one to two hours. Depending on the patient, the gums can recover as quickly as in a few days. You should refrain from strenuous physical activity on the day of the procedure, and eat soft foods in the following days to promote a speedy recovery. Pain is usually minimal and can be managed with over-the-counter medication.
